Maintenance Calories
YAY! YOU HIT YOUR GOAL WEIGHT! So you might be thinking...now what?
This is where SO many people go wrong and end up gaining all the weight back...kissing all that hard work and dedication goodbye.
This is what I recommend, so that WON'T happen:
Instead of going back to eating like you did pre-weight loss journey — track those MAINTENANCE calories!
What are maintenance calories? Well, it's when you eat the number of calories your body needs to function every day — this is usually a range and not an EXACT number, which makes it more flexible.
When you consume this amount of calories (and everyone is different - there is no cookie-cutter approach to this)...you won’t lose or gain either fat or muscle. You'll stay right where you're at, and YES, you'll keep all your muscle too!
If you are over or under eating, however...you'll either gain the weight back or continue losing weight. Most of the time, once you're finally at your goal weight, this is not necessarily ideal.
For the past 6 weeks, I've been tracking my maintenance calories instead of eating in a caloric deficit and I am SO happy with the results!
✔️ My muscle definition hasn't decreased at all
✔️ I haven't lost or gained any weight
✔️ I am EATING good and FEELING good!
Tracking your maintenance calories is a great way to stay on track without the mental load of cutting or bulking. I personally am loving it right now because I know my nutrition is in check, yet I'm not putting any extra pressure on myself!
Happy with your current weight/body composition but not sure how to figure out your maintenance calories? There's a lot to it, and I can help you!
