Habits of Someone with a Healthy Mindset
As nice as it would be, we can't just say "I'm going to have a healthy mindset" and then poof, you magically have a healthy mindset!
Mindset work wouldn't exist if having a healthy mindset didn't require consistent work!
Feeling things like positivity, happiness, motivation, appreciation and gratitude don't always come naturally. We can't always rely on waking up everyday and feeling 100%.
But we CAN practice habits every single day that help train our minds to feel these things more regularly!
Here are some habits I practice daily to have a healthy mind 🌞
Gratitude journaling
Before you say "you can't get into journaling", know that gratitude journaling might be the easiest habit to get into. You don't need to write an essay about the things you're grateful for to feel the benefits.
Gratitude journaling always looks different for me. Some days, I get lost. in writing about things I feel grateful for in life. Other days, I make a short list of 3 or 4 things. No matter what, I always try to be very specific with the things I'm grateful for, because I like to appreciate the little things in life!
Doing this in the morning is an amazing way to start your day on a good note!
Replacing negative language with positive language
The way we speak to ourselves matters. Replacing negative words and thoughts with positive ones can make a huge difference in how we see ourselves over time!
For example, when you take a day off from the gym, you might think or tell yourself you're being lazy. Let's switch that to: you're taking a rest day and that's totally okay! In fact, your body needs rest days.
Celebrate your wins
Celebrating all the things you do is so powerful. If we don't, we can go on forever without realizing how much progress we can make in a single day!
I'm talking about celebrating even the tiniest wins, like making your bed in the morning or going on a walk. Take inventory as the day goes on all of the things you accomplish, instead of focusing on what you didn't get done. Bonus if you write them all down at the end of the day!
Swap screen time for quality time
It's easy to get sucked down the rabbit hole of social media and TV. When we do, it becomes easier to compare ourselves to others — and not to mention, it isn't physically healthy to be on our screens 24/7 either.
When you find yourself scrolling because you have nothing better to do, try to put the phone down and hang with a friend, partner or roommate. Or, give someone a call instead of texting them. Socializing like this will be so refreshing for everyone involved.
Not feeling social? Read a book, workout, tidy up your place, dance to some music! Anything goes!
Do you practice any of these habits? If not, give it a shot for a week or so and see how you feel. Reach out to me on Instagram @madeline_grace for any support or to give me updates on how it's going! I'd love to hear!
