All About H.I.I.T

I love an intense, super sweaty workout that leaves me pumped up yet also exhausted. Like, so exhausted I can barely move. (In a good way)!

HIIT workouts (high-intensity interval training) always somehow get me motivated all over again when I'm having a lazy couple of days. The minutes might go by super slow while I'm doing things like jump squats, box jumps and burpees...but I always leave feeling amaaaazing.

Do you mix HIIT workouts into your fitness routine? Because ya should! Let's talk all about the benefits of it, and how often you should be doing it.

Why should you do HIIT? 🤔

Doing a HIIT workout is a great way to wake your ENTIRE body up. It can improve your heart health, help you lose body fat, and keep your metabolism elevated for hours after you finish exercising.

HIIT is also super efficient! If you have a tight schedule, you can still squeeze in an effective HIIT workout in only 15 minutes. Studies show that it's possible to make more progress in a quick 15 minutes of HIIT (done three times a week) than jogging on the treadmill for an hour.

And lastly, one huge plus is that you don't need any equipment for HIIT. You can certainly (carefully) add weight if you'd like, but most HIIT workouts only require your body weight.

How often should you do HIIT? 📆

Even when I have the energy for it and feel like I could do a HIIT workout every day...I don't. This is because it actually should NOT be done on a daily basis. In fact, you should only do HIIT max 4 times per week!

Too many high-intensity workouts will leave your body no time to recover. No time to recover = higher likelihood of you hurting yourself.

HIIT is especially high impact and can put a toll on your joints if you're not careful. Lessen the chances of joint pain by giving your body what it needs before and after a HIIT session: warm-up before, stretch after, and take some recovery time.

Here's a fun beginner HIIT workout you can try out! 😍

30 seconds on, 10 seconds off. Repeat 4 times:

🔥 Jumping jacks

🔥 Squat with side kick

🔥 Traveling push ups

🔥 Reverse crunches

🔥 Star jumps
