What does your mindset have to do with weight loss?

I’m so glad you asked!

Before I start working with my clients I will always check in with them to see where they’re at with their mindset. This is because having a clear and strong mindset is KEY for improving your health and wellness.

So how exactly does having a positive mindset help you achieve your fitness goals and how can you improve it? Let me tell you.

Having a positive attitude helps you to stay motivated, challenge yourself, and push yourself to reach your goals. It helps you make better decisions around food choices and exercise which are both key in helping you create and sustain a healthier lifestyle.

Here are three tips on how you can improve your mindset so you can support yourself on your fitness journey.

1. Set goals & be realistic about them.

Don’t aim to hit the gym 6 days out of 7 and drastically change your diet overnight. Making big changes too quickly will set you up for failure. Smaller changes and habits are easier to stick to so START SMALL.

2. Make healthy lifestyle changes.

Eating the right foods and exercising regularly are key elements when it comes to losing weight and improving your fitness. When it comes to foods you want to aim for whole foods, eat the rainbow when it comes to fruit and veg, and don’t cut out any one type of food that you like to eat! With exercise, focus on something you enjoy doing so it doesn’t feel like a chore.

3. Use positive self-talk.

When you feel yourself having a moment or a bad day, use the mindset tools at your disposal to pick yourself up from it. Take a step bad and go through 5 things you’re grateful for that are in your life right now. It could be the ability to move your body, the people in your life, or the roof over your head.

Remind yourself of all you’ve gotten through so far in your life and all you’re capable of!

Mindset is an integral part of creating and sustaining a healthier lifestyle. And I am all about creating habits that you can actually stick to!
