Why nutrition is so important
You’ve heard the saying calories in, calories out right? And yes on paper it makes sense that if you want to lose weight or lose fat, you have to burn more than you consume. But what about the quality of those calories? What about the proportion of fats, carbs, and proteins that you’re eating? What about the nutritional value of that food?
Nutrition is so important but also can be confusing if you don’t know what you’re doing.
In this blog, I’m going to break down exactly why getting your nutrition right is so important.
The food you eat gives you energy, vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients your body needs to function well. If you’re not eating enough good value, nutritious food, in short, your body is going to suffer.
If you regularly eat ultra-processed foods it can lead to a range of health problems like obesity, diabetes and heart disease. It can also just make you feel like utter crap because processed food typically has low to no nutritional value, is doing absolutely nothing for your gut health, and has been pumped full of chemicals to preserve it for as long as possible.
Whereas if you’re consuming a balanced and varied diet that is rich in fruits, veggies, fish, chicken and other lean proteins, whole grains and healthy fats then you are supporting your immune system, creating a healthy gut, and also helping yourself to maintain a healthy weight.
This is why nutrition is SO important.
I know it can be confusing, but you can’t go wrong starting off with getting lots of fruits and vegetables in your diet and steering away from processed foods that can last for weeks on end.
