Self-Affirmations

Don’t worry, this isn’t another “here are 10 affirmations for you to start saying right now” post!

It’s not that these posts are a bad thing in any way, but there are LOTS of affirmations out there, and I want to focus on what actually makes them so powerful.

What actually makes reciting affirmations to yourself a habit that can change your life and how you see the world everyday. ☀️

I personally used to think it felt silly to sit in front of my mirror and tell myself things like “I am capable of anything”, or “I trust that the universe has everything figured out for me”.

It’s not that I didn’t believe those things, but I felt like reciting those statements out loud felt forced. I didn’t think I would feel any different after doing it.

But one day I decided to try it out and just give it a chance. I consistently said my affirmations out loud every morning before I got my day started…and eventually, I DID start to feel different. I felt happier. I felt less anxious.

I started to notice how much more confident I was.

1️⃣ Affirmations can be positive statements you know are true deep down, but you might not think about them often — nonetheless remind yourself of them nearly enough.

Life gets super busy, and we can get lost in the craziness of it all. It’s easy to forget to take moments out of our day and show ourselves some love and gratitude! When you decide to commit to self-love everyday, and include speaking affirmations in your self-love routine, you’re prioritizing your health and happiness instead of putting it on the back-burner. Reminding yourself of all the things you know are true (and amazing) about you and your life is insanely powerful when it comes to your overall well-being.

Try to schedule some time for self-love + reciting affirmations in your calendar or to-do list so you don’t forget it! Treat it as if it were a super important work meeting you can’t miss. YOU are just as, if not MUCH more, important!

2️⃣ Affirmations are a great way to increase our sense of self, making us more resilient to whatever life throws at us.

Dedicating yourself to affirmations every day increases your sense of self. Actually, the things you tell yourself everyday, no matter good nor bad, has this effect. But our day to day responsibilities can get challenging enough, which is why it’s extra important to tell ourselves all the POSITIVE things only! This will only make us stronger and better prepared to handle curveballs and obstacles.

3️⃣ Affirmations re-program our minds over time.

Ever heard the saying that if you stick to something for 21 days, it’ll become a habit? This holds true for affirmations! If you actively try and repeat affirmations to yourself daily, even if it feels forced at first, your brain will eventually rewire itself and be more inclined to naturally think about the positives. In other words, you’re helping your brain default to being happy and positive!

These are the things that make simple “I Am” statements so transformative.

If you ever find yourself lost, feeling low or stressed, I encourage you to try fitting in some affirmations into your morning routine! Bonus if you do it again at night.🌙

Really try to keep the distractions low. Have an intimate moment with yourself. You want to really let the affirmations sink in and process in your mind, so don’t rush through it.

Remember, building confidence and self love through affirmations is a process and won’t work overnight. Just stick to it daily, and keep tabs on how you’re feeling throughout the day! I hope you feel more empowered each time.💞
