How To Squeeze Movement Into Your Busy Day

Life is hectic.

It may not look like it on social media, but everyone finds balancing ALL the aspects of life nearly impossible sometimes.

Between work, school, parenting, having a social life, getting enough rest, running errands, taking care of your environment and…everything else, I don’t blame you at ALL if you find it hard to stay consistent with fitness.

And, I’m a huge advocate of the idea that we need to listen to our bodies always!

But if you are feeling a little extra energy in the tank (and be honest with yourself), you can always make time for some form of movement!

Or, you can take these tips below and create time and space for them consistently when you know you typically have that extra energy.

Regardless— at the end of the day, movement is a must!

Even the most simple moves set you up to CONTINUE moving and taking care of your body for life.

So here is my advice for fitting fitness into your busy lifestyle and not the other way around!

1️⃣ Pay attention to when your energy is highest throughout the day. Is it the morning, afternoon or evening? After you complete a certain task?

Spend a week or so keeping an eye on it. Then add that time block to your calendar (or just keep in mind everyday) and don’t schedule anything else on top of it! Treat it as high a priority as a meeting or appointment. You come first!

2️⃣ Remember your workout doesn’t need to be confined to a particular place or time.

Why not take breaks throughout the day and do a few quick sets of push ups or crunches? Or use the tools you have in your living room? Fitness can be so fun and a lot less daunting by breaking it up and getting creative with your equipment!

3️⃣ Think about this: how much time do you spend scrolling socials at the end of a long day? What if you used that time just for YOU?

If you’ve cringed at your screen time report lately, you’re not alone. We all could be better about spending time away from screens!

Imagine the impact of using even a fraction of that time to move your body in a way that feels truly amazing. It’s a form of self care too, just like a skincare routine! It should feel GOOD!

4️⃣ Remember that it doesn’t matter how long it is. It matters that you show up, even if it’s just 15 minutes.

Time spent in the gym is NOT an important factor here. Some of the best workouts can be done in a short 15 minute HIIT session.

Showing up is what we’re going for! Just being able to say “I did SOMETHING today to move my body” is something to really celebrate. 💛

The biggest thing to remember: you’re probably putting more pressure on yourself than you really have to.

Its 2022 and fitness should not mean torturing yourself in the gym or beating yourself up over subpar workouts.

Start counting each and every win, even small ones like walking around your block when you usually never do.

Your entire perspective of life and fitness might change!
